Circuit City Games Clearance Starting on 7/3/05

Starting Sunday morning, Circuit City will be having a blowout sale on select Video Games for $9.99 each. The sale is much like the one they had last year where games were only $4.99, but it seems that they are a little more organized this year because many stores have already pulled the games off the floor to prevent people from buying them early. Ghost Recon 3’s Official Name: Advanced Warfighter

Tom Clancy’s latest creation finally has an official name – Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The game will feature a new way to lead your team and will have advanced technology in all aspects of the equipment used. The game will be released this holiday season for every major console including the PC – sorry, no Mac version. Each version will offer something exclusive to that console – reminds me of Soul Calibur. Here’s a little snip of the background to the game:
The game is set in the year 2013 in Mexico City, which has been overthrown by an insurgence of rebels. The famed Ghosts must head into the capital to squash a rebellion and retake control of the metropolis. Gamers will lead their squad on missions to “save the president of the United States, recover stolen nuclear codes, and eliminate a vicious band of renegade soldiers hell-bent on unleashing catastrophe.”

Nintendo Tried To Be Cool Once - It Didn’t Work

Remember the problems that plagued the N64? Lack of a disc based format and difficult console to develop for. Nintendo tried to fix this with the Gamecube and tried to be cool. “We can match anything our friends over at Sony can do” I was skeptical when I heard that line from Nintendo, but they were right. The Gamecube proved to be a far more capable machine than the PS2. What was achieved? Not much. Nintendo went with a cheaper more efficient disc based format, and even then people looked down on them. While they fixed the problems with the N64, and believe me they fixed quite a bit, they also created many mistakes with the GCN.

Check this out - the Nintendo Revolution has controller ports for Nintendo Gamecube controllers. Right next to them lie two Gamecube memory card ports as well. Very cool to see the level of backwards compatibility they are taking with this one, although the location of the ports being on top of the console is a bit suspect. Where does this leave us in terms of the Revolution’s controller? Will it be designed for Revolution, N64, SNES, and NES games while foregoing Gamecube design? Nintendo, can we hurry up with the announcement already? Thanks.

E3 2005: Mario Baseball Impressions

Mario Baseball is yet another foray by Nintendo into the Mario sports genre. Nintendo did not separate Mario Baseball much from their MLB baseball game as the two played very much alike on a fundamental level. However, I did like that each character had their own style of batting and fielding. For example, the Sunshine guys from Mario Sunshine use a palm tree as their bat which allow them more space on the bat to hit the ball. Read on for our full impressions.

E3 2005: Chicken Little Impressions

I love platformers. In fact, if I had to choose one game type to play for the rest of my life it would be platformers. Because of all this love I have for platformers there is one thing I hate more then anything else, including Rockstars games, is a bad platformer. Most kiddie platformers, like Tak, are just bad. So bad that I have giving up all hope that there might ever will be a good children’s platformer. That all changed when I saw Chicken Little at E3 - find out why after the jump.

E3 2005: Super Mario Strikers Impressions

Super Mario Strikers is one of the four new titles which Mario and his crew will be making an appearance in this year. We got our hands on this game, and although it was an early build, it is thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, I am willing to say that this is the greatest Mario sports title ever, period. In this build, two teams were available - Mario and Donkey Kong. Each team captain has a few Koopa Troopa’s or Toad-like teammates. Now, the soccer mechanics are just great. If you remember Sega Soccer Slam, I would say that the actual soccer game actually plays a bit better in Strikers. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Mario title if there weren’t some twists. Unlike what you will find in the latest iteration of Mario Tennis on the Gamecube, the power-ups and distractions in Strikers don’t seem too gimmicky.

E3 2005: Killer 7

Killer7 from Capcom has been announced and is one of the highly anticipated titles of E3 this year mainly due to that fact that this is the second cell shaded first person shooter game to be released. XIII was the first FPS that was cell shaded, but Killer 7 has a unique twist to it. In the game you are Harman Smith, an assassin who is the dominate consciousness over 7 different personalities. Switching between his seven different personalities, Harman employs each personality’s unique abilities to complete their mission. Using each personalities unique abilities, you must destroy creatures released by a kingpin crime boss and make your way to him to end the criminal madness. You can switch through any of the 7 personalities during gameplay to reach your goal. Killer 7 will be released in June 2005 for the PS2 and Gamecube.
E3 2005: Teen Titans Comes To Consoles

I’m a big fan of the comic and show Teen Titans and Majesco has brought them to the console world. Not much of the story has been revealed, but we know that the game includes more than 10 of the villains from the series including Slade, Cinderblock, Jinx, and more. You start off with the standard Titans team: Raven, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Robin, but you can also unlock at least 10 more characters. You can switch between which Titan you want to play as in real time, which is good because each Titan has unique abilities. There is a multi-player mode where you can either do Co-Op or up to 4 player versus. I haven’t gotten a chance to play the game yet, but from what we’ve seen it looks promising. Teen Titans will be on Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube and is scheduled for release early 2006.
E3: Mario To Work Overtime In Baseball, Soccer, Party 7, and Dance Dance Revolution!

Well, Nintendo has announced that Mario will be working overtime on the Gamecube in 2005. We have all heard about Mario Baseball, so that isn’t too much of a surprise. What we didn’t know is that he and his crew will also be starring in a soccer title. You can also look forward to seeing the next version of Mario Party, which will feature simultaneous 8-player support. Not bad. The biggest news as far as Mario is concerned, though, is that Nintendo will be bringing us Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Edition. I can definitely feel that.
